Children’s Yoga in South Durham and Bishop Auckland

Hi! I’m Laura and I am running children’s Kalma Life yoga classes for South Durham & Bishop Auckland.

Working as a teacher for 14 years I have been lucky enough to experience teaching a massive age range, from 3, right up to 16 years. These children had many different needs as well as coming from a wide variety of backgrounds.

I have a daughter, 16 years and a son, born March 2017. When Charlie was 10 weeks old, we attended our first Kalma Baby yoga classes and we loved them. I immediately recognised the health benefits that yoga had for my baby and myself as well as creating a strong bond between us.

Having considered a change in career for a while, one that would enable a better work/life balance, when I came across Kalma Life, I knew it was for me. I am now very excited to be running baby yoga, baby massage and children’s yoga classes throughout Bishop Auckland, Spennymoor, Crook, Ferryhill, Brandon, Meadowfield, Langley Moor, Browney, New Brancepeth, Bearpark, Ushaw Moor, Shincliffe, Bowburn, Coxhoe, Gilesgate, Sherburn, Belmont, Croxdale, Pittington & Durham City.  Kalma Life are also proud owners of a GOLD accreditation from the Children’s Activity Association.

I am fully trained and insured, holding an enhanced DBS, safeguarding and first aid certificate.

What do people say about us?

Jenson and I love our weekly yoga sessions with Laura! The class is friendly and relaxed and I’ve met some lovely mams too. So pleased I picked this class to walk into in those early days of motherhood. Jane

I have been attending with Poppy since she was around 6 weeks. Laura Is a fantastic teacher, explaining what we are doing and why and giving encouragement. Gemma

We have been attending classes with Laura for a number of months now. Ivy loves every minute of it and I can see the benefits for her short and long term. I have made some great friends comming to this class. Rachel

Don’t just take our word for it – here’s what our schools are saying…

“The sessions have been a fantastic addition to our school!  The children have really enjoyed them and looked forwad them each week.  In just 4 weeks staff have noticed that the children have imroved in their listening, attention, coordination and ability to balance.

Fiona Tindale – Hartside Primary Academy

“The children loved it!  Our yogis learned the different moves and poses as they became more aware of their own bodies how it bends and stretches.  As the sessions progressed you could see the childrens confidence grow as well as their listening skills, coordination and gross motor skills.  The sessions were fun and all children were able to access at their 0wn level of ability.  The skills children learn in these sessions are so valuable to use throughout our nursery day. We were given lots of lovely feedback from our parents as the children took their ‘moves’ home for parents to learn too.  hopfully Laura will be back soon!”

Karen Crawford – Rainbow Nursery

“Went for my first kalma mamas session with Eve today. I was made to feel totally welcome and Eve made sure I knew what I was doing as I had missed the previous session. I felt totally relaxed afterwards and learnt some exercises to help ease my SPD. I have booked for the 4 week course in September which I am really looking forward to. “
